On Tuesday night Barcelona hosts Tottenham Hotspur in a last game from Group B of the
Champions League. These two teams are going to approach the match in a totally different way.
Barca already won this group, having 6 points advantage in front of Tottenham, while the English
side needs to win at any cost in order to beat Inter for the 2nd place. Let’s see what’s going on
here in our football betting tips for today.
Just as most of the people expected, Barcelona won this group. And just as we all expected,
Tottenham and Inter will fight for the second place and the right to continue to the 1/8-finals.
So far in the group Barca are unbeaten, having 13 points and a record of 4 wins and 1 draw. The
only time when the Catalans lost points in the group was against Inter at San Siro, when Mauro
Icardi scored a late equalizer for the Nerazzurri.
This is the second time when Barca and Tottenham meet in this group. When they met at the
Wembley in October, Los Cules celebrated a 4-2 win. Lionel Messi scored a brace for the Spanish
side, while Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic also scored for Barca. Tottenham’s goals in the
game were scored by Harry Kane and Erik Lamela, but they were not enough.
This is a very interesting situation in the group, because it’s expected to see a very experimental
starting eleven from Barcelona on Tuesday night. As the Catalans already qualified for the 1/8-final
and won the first place, most surely the head coach Ernesto Valverde will make a lot of changes in
this starting lineup. The Catalans will save themselves for their next La Liga game, which will have
a chance to a lot of their reserve and young players to shine. Most surely Valverde’s key figures
will get a rest, while players like Cilessen, Cuenca, Miranda, Alena, Puig, Denis and Munir could
play.
Of course, this is great news for Tottenham and pretty bad news for Inter. The Italians are hoping
that Barca will appoach this game with their strongest team, but this just won’t happen. Ernesto
Valverde is not a fool – he knows that this is a perfect opportunity to give a rest to his most
important players.
Tottenham on other hand must use this opportunity to win at the Camp Nou. It’s always very
difficult to win at this stadium, no matter who is against you. There’s no doubt that Spurs will
approach the game with their strongest team as they hope to win and reach the 1/8-finals.
There’s a chance for Tottenham to qualify for the 1/8-finals, even if they don’t win at the Camp Nou.
But in this case they must hope that Inter will not win against PSV in the other game. In same time
the Nerazzurri host the Dutch team at the San Siro and they are favourites to take the three points,
of course. Just because Inter are favourites to beat PSV, it means that Tottenham must aim to win
at the Camp Nou at any cost. We can say this for sure in our football betting tips.
Another reason for Ernesto Valverde to rest his stars against Tottenham is that Barca already have
some key players being injured. Samuel Umtiti, Sergi Roberto, Arthur, Rafinha and Malcom are all
injured at this moment. Right now Valverde can’t allow himself to lose any other important players,
because the team have to defend its position of a leader in La Liga.
Tottenham’s manager Mauricio Pochettino also have some problems before the clash at the Camp
Nou. Spurs can’t use the injured Davinson Sanchez, Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele. In the
same time Erik Lamela is doubtful for the game, missing the last few games of the team.
Barcelona’s manager Ernesto Valverde confirmed that Luis Suarez will sit out the game for sure.
The Uruguayan striker will get a rest after the win over Espanyol during the weekend. Most likely
he’s going to be replaced in the starting eleven by the La Masia product Munir El Haddadi. For now
it’s not clear what Valverde is going to decide about the team’s superstar Lionel Messi. The
Argentine striker usually wants to play in every game, but Valvered is aware that putting him on the
pitch in a game like this could be pretty stupid.

Meanwhile Tottenham’s manager Mauricio Pochettino gave a rest to Harry Kane and Christian
Eriksen during the game against Leicester City at the weekend. These two players will be the key
figures in Tottenham’s team at the Camp Nou. Harry Kane is the best English striker at this
moment and his presence in Barcelona’s penalty area will create a lot of problems for the home
side’s defense. Meanwhile Christian Eriksen is going to pull the strings behind Kane. But Eriksen is
not only a great playmaker, but also a player who scores a lot of goals as well. Players like Son,
Delle Ali and Lucas Moura add up for Tottenham’s offensive power.
We can conclude that Tottenham are the big favourite in this match. For some important reasons.
First of all, the English team needs to win this one at any cost, while Barcelona don’t. And second
of all, Barcelona’s biggest stars will most likely miss this match, which gives Tottenham an amazing
opportunity to win and qualify for the 1/8-finals. Most likely Spurs will meet a very inexperienced
Barca side, filled with young players. Now it’s up to Tottenham’s manager Mauricio Pochettino to
find the right way to beat this different (and weaker) version of the Catalan giants.
In our football betting tips we can say that you should take a careful approach to this game. Do not
bet only based on these two names, because there are certain circumstances you shall consider
for this particular game. Whatever you have decided about this match, we really wish you good
luck.
