Making it three in a row. That’s the main goal in front of Barcelona before the visit to Levante in a
match from the 16th round of the Spanish La Liga. Right now the Catalans have a 3 point
advantage in front of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid and they’d like to keep it that way. Here are our
best soccer predictions for this clash at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia on Sunday night.
Despite of getting so much criticism from fans and media for his work, Barcelona’s manager
Ernesto Valverde is marching on towards a second consecutive title with the club in La Liga. Barca
made some mistakes since the beginning of the season, but despite of this, they are leaders in the
standings. How we said, they’d like to record a third consecutive win after the ones against
Villarreal and Espanyol.
For Barcelona the Catalan derby against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium was incredibly enjoyable.
Los Cules beat one of their biggest rivals with 4-0 at their own ground, which brought them a lot of
joy. Lionel Messi showed a masterclass from set pieces, while Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez
also put the ball behind Diego Lopez’ back.
The Ousmane Dembele situation at Barcelona is very curious. The talented Frenchman is having a
lot of problems with his discipline, getting late for training on a regular basis. But in same time,
Dembele just doesn’t stop scoring incredible goals. After scoring a very beautiful goal against
Espanyol, he did it again against Tottenham in the Champions League during the week. Right now
the former Borussia Dortmund player is showing everyone just how good he is.
Against Tottenham we also saw the return of Phillippe Coutinho. The Brazilian midfielder had an
injury problem, but he returned on the pitch against Spurs. Most likely he will feature against
Levante as well.
The Uruguyan striker Luis Suarez missed the game against Tottenham with an injury. Everything
with him is okay now, so he shall be in Barca’s starting eleven in Valencia on Sunday. Suarez had
some difficult moments in the beginning of the season, but with time he found his rhythm and
started scoring on a regular basis. So far in the league he has scored 10 goals, being just one goal
behind the leaders Lionel Messi and Christian Stuani in the race for the Pichichi.
Good news for Barcelona is the return of Malcom. The summer signing was recovering from an
injury, but now everything with him is fine and he’s ready to return on the pitch. In most of the time
he’s sitting on the bench, but he’s an useful addition to the squad for Ernesto Valverde.
One of Barcelona’s biggest problems remain the injury of the influental central defender Samuel
Umtiti. The French international is having a serious problem with his knee, remaining sidelined.
This is huge hit for Valverde, because Umtiti is arguably his best defender. Especially given the fact
that Gerard Pique is making a lot of mistakes.
Let’s take a look at Levante as well in our best soccer predictions.
The club from Valencia is doing very well since the beginning of the season, being 6th in the
standings with 22 points. Their record in the league so far shows 6 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses. In
their last five matches Levante suffered only one loss – against Real Sociedad. In their last game
they made an incredible 4-4 draw during the visit to Eibar at the Estadio de Ipurua. It’s just
incredible that Levante scored four goals in this game and they still didn’t win. Jose Luis Morales,
Rober and Borja scored for the visitors, while Eibar’s Paulo Oliveira scored himself an own goal
It’s clear that the manager Paco Lopez is doing a very good job at Levante this season. This team
rarely plays in Europe, but now Levante are a contender for an Europa League qualification at
least. If they manage to keep this level of performance, of course.
There are two players in Levante’s squad who are shining since the beginning of the campaign.
Jose Luis Morales and Roger Marti have scored 13 goals combined for the team in La Liga this

season, being the main goalscorers of their side. On Sunday Barcelona have to be very careful
with these two, because they score goals on a regular basis.
Against Barca Levante won’t be able to use the injured Samuel Sanchez Garcia and Armando
Sadiku, while Pedro Lopez, Cheick Doukoure and Sergio Postigo are doubtful for the game. It
remains to be seen if they’d be able to feature for Levante.
Levante are the team who caused Barcelona’s only defeat last season in La Liga. The Catalans
were very close ot winning the title unbeaten, but in the 37th round they suffered a dramatic 4-5
loss at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia. it was really heartbreaking defeat for Barcelona, because
it’d have been an incredible achievement to win the title without a loss. Now Barca will have the
chance to avenge the loss on the same ground it happened on May 13.
In our best soccer predictions for today we can conclude that it won’t be easy for Barcelona to beat
Levante. The home side is doing very well since the beginning of the season and it’s not a
coincidence that Levante are currently in the Top 6 of the league. What happened in the end of the
last season is another reason why Barcelona must be on their toes on Sunday. Ernesto Valverde’s
team already made a lot of mistakes this season and this must be a reminder for them that there
ain’t no easy matches in La Liga. Most of the team’s starters got a rest against Tottenham in the
Champions League, so we shall see them fresh and ready to fight on the pitch. As for Levante, for
them this is a great chance to make another positive impression. If they manage to beat the
champions, they would underline their position as a contender for an European qualification this
