Australian Open – the first Grand Slam tournament for the year, is underway. Today we are about to
have a look at the women’s singles and see what’s happening in Melbourne. Stay with us, because
we are about to provide you with our vip tennis bets for today.
The current champion at the Australian Open is the Danish player Caroline Wozniacki, who won
the competition in 2018. For her it was a first Grand Slam title in her career so far. This year
Wozniacki is seeded as №3 in the main draw. Something more – she even started her participation
in Melbourne with two wins. In the first round the champion eliminated Alison Van Uytvanck from
Belgium, beating her in straight sets. In the second round Wozniacki once again showed here
qualities, beating the Swedish Johanna Larsson.
It’s going to get interesting in the third round, because Wozniacki will face the former number one
in the world Maria Sharapova. Sharapova started the competition in the best way possible, beating
in the first round Harriet Dart without a single game being lost. In the second round the Russian
beat Rebecca Peterson from Sweden, once again without losing a set.
The Romanian Simona Halep is the №1 seeded in Melbourne this year. She also started her
participation with two wins, although in both cases she lost a set. In the first round Halep lost the
first set against the Estonian Kaia Kanepi, but won the match in the next two. In the second round
the Romanian met Sofia Kenin from the USA, also beating her in three sets.
In the third round of the competition Simona Halep will a very interesting opponent – the legendary
Venus Williams. The former number one reached this phase, after beating Mihaela Buzarnescu
and Alize Cornet in the first two rounds. Venus Williams is a two time finalist in Melbourn, reaching
the finals in 2003 and 2017.
The strong German Angelique Kerber is the №2 seeded in the women’s draw. Far from surprising,
she also began her participation in the competition with two consecutive wins. In the first round
Kerber didn’t leave any chances to the Slovenian Polona Hercog, beating her in two. In the next
round the German player is going to face the Australian Kimberly Birrell, who eliminated from the
competition the Croatian Donna Vekic.
The former US Open champion Sloane Stephens is another name which deserves to be
mentioned this year. Stephens is seeded as №5 in the main draw. She already began her
participation with a win, beating the Hungarian Timea Babos in two sets. In the second round
Stephens is going to face the №31 seeded Croatian Petra Martic, who beat Marketa Vondrousova
in the first round. Sloane Stephens’ best achievement is the 1/2-final, which she reached in 2013.
In 2017 Stephens won the US Open, which is her biggest achievement to date.
Petra Kvitova is a player which always fights fr the trophy. This year she’s seeded as №8 in the
main draw. The former Wimbledon champion didn’t face any problems in the first round of the
competition, beating Irina Begu from Romania in two. In the second round Kvitova will face the
Swiss Belinda Bencic, who won against Yulia Putintseva in the first round. The 28-years old
Kvitova is a two time Wimbledon champion. In 2012 she made her best campaign at the Australian
Open, reaching the 1/2-finals.
In our vip tennis bets we will also take a look at the №6 seeded Elina Svitolina from Ukraine. She
also needed just two sets in the start of the competition in order to beat the Slovakian Viktoria
Kuzmova. In the second round Svitolina is going to face Shuai Zhang from China, who enjoyed a
win over Kristyna Pliskova in the first round.
The Japanese Naomi Osaka is a player who is raising quick in the WTA rankings. This year Osaka
is seeded as №4 in the main draw, which is a proof of her qualities and current form. Just as
everyone expected, Osaka didn’t face any problems against the Slovenian Tamara Zidansek in the
first round, beating her in two sets. In the next round Osaka will face Su Wei Hsieh, who won
against the German Laura Siegemund in the first round.
The former champion from Roland Garros and Wimbledon Garbine Muguruza is another player we
have to follow closely in Melbourne. She’s seeded as №18 in the main draw, but she’s going to be
a huge threat for everyone at the Australian Open. The Spanish player kicked off her campaign
with a two sets win over Saisai Zheng, which she followed with another win over Johanna Konta
from Great Britain. In the third round Muguruza is going to face Timea Bacsinszky from
Switzerland. She reached the third round after wins over Daria Kasatkina and Natalia
Of course, it’s impossible to forget one of the greatest female players in the history of tennis –
Serena Williams. The legendary American is back on the court after giving birth. She’s seeded as
№16 in the main draw, because of her rankings at the moment, but she’s surely one of the biggest
favourites for winning the trophy. In the first round Serena beat the German Tatjana Maria in two,
while in the second round she prevailed in two sets over Eugenie Bouchard. In the third round
Serena is going to face Dayana Yastremska from Ukraine, who achieved wins over Samantha
Stosur and Carla Suarez Navarro. So far Serena Williams have won the Australian Open 7 times in

in Melbourne so far. We have all the reasons to expect a thrilling tournament and a fierce fight for
the trophy. Veterans like Serena Williams will aim to win the competition, but there are younger
talented players, who are ready to make an upset. So far in the competition there ain’t any huge
surprises, but we are sure that we are going to see some.
